AREA

So what do you know about Coin? Only 33KM from Malaga centre and 30KM from Marbella this lovely community is not as far off the beaten track as you think. A diverse community of expats and local’s make Coin a lovely place to live.

The town was ruled by the Moors and the Romans, with the Moors invading and controlling the town from 929 AD until 1485, when the Christians liberated and retook control of Coín.

The economy was traditionally agriculture, coexisting with marble mining (since Roman times) and ceramics. The latter has been during the twentieth century very important and known, having a colour style of its own called “Green Coin”. The most significant ceramics workshop during the past century was the Workshop “Cumbreras” and now work is continuing this traditional ceramic material of Coin, with over 300 years old by local artisans.
